The Metropolis Women International Network will take advantage of this annual international meeting dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women to hold an internal antennae meeting on the morning of Thursday 12 March. The members will also visit representatives of UN Women and other international organizations to promote the Network’s activities.

The organizers of the 59th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59), where representatives of the UCLG Standing Committee on Gender Equality will also be present, expect around 9,000 delegates from across the world to attend the multiple sessions to be held in the US city between 9 and 20 March, straight after International Women’s Day (8 March). This year, the event will also commemorate the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
